The latest case study is on a preschool in the West Midlands, St Michaels Preschool in Penkridge, Wolverhampton.  Being the first 'school' website I've worked on, I found it to be quite an interesting challenge. Having researched other school websites across the country, they seem to be of the same styling; very structured and over informative. So with this in mind I wanted to try to do something slightly different to the pack. I wanted to create a website which was light, welcoming and easily accessible for new and repeating visitors.  To get some ideas on how to achieve this I looked at various corporation websites to find out how they presented their information and how they navigated to it. I also looked at general websites targeted to ages that of a preschool, ages 3-8. This would later help me in some of the styling aspects, but the overall look had to appeal to adults.  The colour scheme is complimentary of the school's colours, though at first I was reserved of how purple and gold would work together visually on screen, it actually worked out great in the final design.  To go the extra mile for this project, I added a comprehensive yet easy to use calendar system. The calendar can be easily updated by staff members at the school to be reviewed by parents and pupils to find out upcoming school events and even half term holidays.  The site is scheduled to go live in time for the start of the next school term.
